Day 30. Science and beyond.....

Image
Science works Museum is a must for all things geekie. We headed out this morning to have some fun and learn more interesting science facts. The museum is located about 15km from our caravan site so today would be a test on driving and navigation ability. Needless to say there wasn't too many issues, but the GPS is not always right. We had a hard time prizing Okar away from the kids zone, but we all found something interesting to do and spent most of the early morning doing so. We headed back over the bridge to Docklands and jumped on the 35 City Circle tram, to go and explore some more of what Melbourne had on offer. Needles to say more shopping was in store. With the afternoon winding down, we headed out to visit some family friends and to sample their home made pizzas. We learnt a few things about driving in Melbourne today, one, peak hour sux, two, melbournian drivers are terrible and three, i want to instal

With the overnight temperatures being nice and cool we all got a decent night sleep and the morning things just went well, brekky done, washing down, it all just kind of worked. We haven't really planned much for Melbourne, so we are just playing it by ear. First stop the DFO to purchase much needed back to school shoes for the small ones.I tell you what, if kids feet go by the same mantra like dogs and grow into them, then my kids are going to be like 7 foot tall!!  Dollars spent and bored boys; we headed back into town to visit the Melbourne Gaol. We have never been here but have heard good things about it and we were not disappointed. Firstly, we were all locked up in the watch house, role play of course,  and shown around the old Remand Centre which was in operation well into the mid 90s. From there on, we headed out into the main old Melbourne Gaol. WOW what a site, we had completely forg

With our departure in the morning being a little sluggish, thanks to a good night sleep, we said our goodbyes and headed south, for our last leg of the edventure before heading onto the spirit and then home soil once again. The drive was big and boring, but the roads were fantastic so we made good progress over all. We stoped along the way at the famous Dog on the Tuckerbox and Ettamogah Pub  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ettamogah_Pub  to stretch our legs an grab some food before arriving in Melbourne at 5:30ish. We set up shop quickly, practice makes perfect, with the need for the diesel heater becoming apparent on sunset as the temperature dropped into almost single digits. Tonight we settle down to sleep knowing that in a few days we will be on the boat back home. It seems like only yesterday we left Tasmania and y
